Pactolus Goes Live at Cable MSO
New Prepaid Service Integrates With MSO’s Pre-existing Services,
Scales to Serve Millions of VoBB Customers From Day 1.
MARLBOROUGH, Mass. - Feb. 5, 2008 -
Pactolus Communications, makers of the industry’s most broadly-deployed SIP applications and service creation/delivery solutions, today announces its selection by a major US telecom media and entertainment company. The MSO, owners of one of the nation’s largest cable clusters, selected Pactolus’ RapidFLEX™ Service Creation and Delivery Platform and SIPware™ Prepaid Calling to provide its millions of telecom service customers with new calling options, features and economics.
In order to expand and further differentiate its branded triple-play services and support a broadening customer base, the MSO had to quickly add compelling new demographically-customized prepaid calling capabilities to its telecom product portfolio, and fully integrate the new service with its custom core VoBB service.
Yankee Group analyst Brian Partridge observes: “In this particular case, the MSO faced a significant challenge: its telecom services penetration and subscriber take rates required that the new service be immediately capable of processing a massive number of calls. The customer determined to mitigate the risks of a new service launch to its installed base, and sought to create and integrate a solution that would readily scale upon launch.” transparently integrates key functions critical to sustaining call states, such as 1+1 and N+1 server redundacy schemes
The MSO selected the RapidFLEX SDP for its scale: it’s the only IP services platform that automatically, transparently integrates key functions critical to sustaining call states, such as 1+1 and N+1 server redundancy schemes that incorporate sophisticated component failover logic. The RapidFLEX SDP helped ensure that the newly-created service would immediately and effectively perform as needed.
Using the RapidFLEX Service Creation Environment’s (SCE’s) rich object-based developer tool suite, the new prepaid service was easily integrated with the MSO’s proprietary core VoBB service, and the creation of custom features such as automatic subscriber authentication was accelerated and simplified.
Pactolus CTO and Founder David Horton summarizes: “We are committed to enabling even the largest service providers and MSOs to quickly, effectively integrate new service products into their unique existing service portfolios. Most importantly, we help them ensure – from day 1 – that their new services deliver the scalability, performance and dependability to meet their most aggressive and optimistic subscriber demand estimates.”
