Teliuvo Simplifies Services Wholesaling, Drives New Global Calling Economics
With Pactolus

The Customer

Teliuvo provides comprehensive hosted VoIP and long distance services to ISPs, enterprises and integrators. A division of Canadian Internet and telephony services provider Pathway Communications, Teliuvo reduces the capital costs, time and technical resources that service providers need to invest to deliver services such as broadband voice (IP Centrex), Hosted PBXs, IP Trunks, Prepaid Long Distance Services and Calling Cards to residential and business clients.

The Challenge

Since 1994, ISP Pathway Communications has served Toronto & Eastern Canada businesses and consumers. It first expanded into retail voice services with its Smartreach long distance and international dial-around product, a VoIP service that featured advantageous economics and quality, and numerous innovative customer convenience and account management features delivered via Web interface.

It recently founded its Teliuvo division to drive expansion to a dual direct/wholesale business model. This expansion required a service delivery solution that would support advanced service partitioning to support retail service providers and enable service customization on an individual basis.

The Solution

Teliuvo selected and deployed Pactolus' Prepaid and Postpaid SIPware Services, which fully support its dual direct/wholesale business model. Pactolus' advanced service partitioning and flexible configuration lets Teliuvo's retail service providers individually tailor their service products to their specific business models and subscriber markets. Its channel partners leverage Pactolus' industry-leading capabilities such as real time billing, calling card support, web-based subscriber self-provisioning, extensive language support, customizable language interfaces and integrated multi-language/multi-currency support.

Teliuvo also deployed a NexTone platform for least-cost routing, completing its solution and enabling Teliuvo to terminate requests for long distance minutes to different vendors based on different rules and preferences.

Pactolus also drives Teliuvo's direct retail services, including its popular SmartReach prepaid and postpaid service offerings. Pactolus lets prepaid SmartReach subscribers use either card-based or ANI-based services to economically make global long distance calls from any wireless or landline phone, and lets home-based subscribers avoid complex PIN codes and authentication processes.

The Results

Teliuvo's Pactolus-based solution today successfully enables its large and rapidly-growing network of retail service providers to reduce the capital costs, time and technical resources required to deliver services such broadband voice (IP Centrex), Hosted PBXs, IP Trunks, Prepaid Long Distance Services and Calling Cards to their residential and business clients, and flexibly configure features for their individual target markets and business models. As a result, Teliuvo's wholesale services and the SmartReach services have gained an increasingly major share of Canada's $350 million pre-paid long-distance market.

Ovi Biris, Teliuvo Vice President and General Manager, notes: "We evaluated an array of leading IP voice service platforms and applications, and Pactolus quickly emerged as the best solution for several reasons, including its market-proven scale, ease of configuration, and especially its ability to easily support our wholesale and retail businesses. Pactolus is a strategic partner in our ongoing growth."
